A DejaNews search on this group using the subject "localtalk bridge" or
similar should throw up lots os related information. I'm trying to put
together some web pages on the topic of networking IIgs/IIe, older Macs
with newer Macs and PCs but here's a few comments.

Hardware LocalTalk bridge -- eg Kinetics FastPath, Farallon GatorBox --
not available new, but are being discarded on corporate networks. Need
some configuration tools but there are enthusiasts in the comp.sys.mac
groups who should be able to help.

Intel Server LocalTalk bridge -- eg NT, NetWare, Linux or Unix server
running on Intel hardware. If fitted with certain Dayna ISA LocalTalk
cards (eg DL200 also known as Cops95(?)), such a server can bridge
AppleTalk and ethernet networks. Unfortunately, the servers only
support certain well documented cards although there is some work in
the Linux world to support the Apple ISA LocalTalk card. For NT and
NetWare, only older servers may support LocalTalk hardware -- I'm still
checking.

Macintosh software bridge -- Requires Pre-B/W G3 Mac or iMac with
built-in LocalTalk and ethernet connections (I understand there are
compatability issues with add-in LocalTalk cards). From Apple there is
a (now unavailable) piece of software called LocalBridge. The software
may need to be patched for OpenTransport but it works on OS8.5 in my
experience. LocalBridge was purchased from Sonic Systems who continue
to bundle a single user copy with their ethernet adapters. LocalBridge
may work with non-Sonic ethernet adapters.
