If you have a Mac LC then you could purchase an Apple IIe card for it. The
card can be found for about $25 on ebay. It plugs into the expansion slot
(PDS) on the LC series and it contains the complete chipset for an Apple
IIe.
With the card installed you can run Apple IIe software. The card will allow
the Apple IIe mode to access the floppy drive and up to 10MB of the LC Hard
Drive for storage.
You can plug a 5.25 Apple Drive ($10-$15 on eBay) into the Apple IIe Card
and even a Joystick.
I'm pretty sure that this is what the "Apple IIe Card Installer/startup
diskettes" are for.
