The concern (I think) was with having a way to unshrink .sdk disk images when
there is no 800k target diskette. One idea is to set up an 800k /RAM5 RAM disk and
use it as the target for unshrinking. You could, then, move the files to a larger
Superdrive diskette which has been initialized for ProDOS (so, it would have the
boot blocks).
The new diskette would eventually need to be named correctly (i.e. to the
name of the RAM disk from which the files are copied) before using in the Sys
6.0.1 Install.
If you can get an .shk (file archive) file of a Sys 6.0.1 disk's contents to
the GS, you can use GS-ShrinkIt to unshrink the files to whatever diskette you
like (so long as it is large enough). Again, if the target diskette has been
initialized for ProDOS, it will have the boot blocks. (As in the above case, the
diskette will need to have the correct name when used for an Install.)
One advantage of using file archives is that you can just 'hand install'
System 6.0.1 directly to hard disk-- i.e. unshrink the files to the places they
should go; or, unshrink all of the files to some hard disk directory and then move
them to correctly named folders.
For example, you know drivers go into a folder named SYSTEM/DRIVERS/ and that
the SYSTEM/ folder needs to be in the main (root) directory of your hard disk's
boot partition (And, that the boot partition needs to be the first partition on
your hard disk).
