Right. It does the work where it's easier to do.

I haven't peeked at the documentation in a while, but my recollection is
that one way it works is to assume by the presence of a file name "extension"
what the type should be. For example if the file ends with .shk it'll set
the type to p$E0$02$80 and the creator to pdos. It supports plenty of types
like that. I believe it always gets rid of the fork since it assumes you
want to do so when you use it.
