Thanks Jeff, but I don't think it will make a difference. I want to end up
with a file $4e00 bytes in length, not $4e01. The "good" Mac file has exactly
$4e00 bytes in its data fork according to file info, so I wanted a simple
$4e00 byte file on my IIGS too (I think). Anyway, the last part of the
file is just null's anyway so I don't think I chopped off good data.
At some point before I tear all my hair out, I will try adding a extra byte
to the end. I'm betting my problem lies elsewhere. Tonight I'm looking
for those unexplained $30 bytes in 'File Compare'. My hunch is the $30 bytes
is file info and data begins at offset $30 in File Compare. Well, that is
my working hypothesis and now I need to test it.
I'm rambling to get my added comments longer than the included text so
this newsreader will actually post it :-)
Thanks!
