You would need a com program such as Agate or Zlink (both downloadable
from the archives) and an internet shell account. A shell account is one
that you access using a terminal program and type commands, as opposed
to a PPP account, where you can use a browser or email client. Not all
internet providers offer shell access, but mine does. You need to learn
some unix commands and how to run the mail programs which are actually
on the server. You just view them via the terminal program. This is
pretty complicated to set up and learn. The cheapest and easiest way to
get email access is to use Juno, a free email service that runs on IBM's
only. Minimal system requirements are a 386 with VGA monitor (can be
B&W) and 9600bps modem, 4 megs of RAM and Windows 3.1.
