Re: ProSel 8 and 16
SuperTimer, ProSel-16 START version 8.90 has been shipping for several weeks.
Hundreds of people already have it, and are now safely and happily Y2K
compliant. We discussed putting in a screen message about Y2K, but the only way
to do that would have been to obliterate Glen Bredon's name. So, the version
number was changed to differentiate it from the PD (non-Y2K) version. An
instruction sheet is shipped with the disk explaining the Y2K-ness of it. I
have yet to hear from a single user who is confused.
For all those ProSel developers who want to play with the PD version, versions
8.5, 8.6, 8.7, 8.8, and 8.9 are available. So are the hundredths, if they can
figure out how to do it. Or, they can use v8.84, or no version number at all if
they so choose. My versions will never contain anything but the basic ProSel.
FWIW, I've also released Mr.Fixit v4.6 and Copy GS v2.2. Though it may be
controversial, ProSel's status as PD permits me to do that.
If some developer wants to use my versions as a base, he or she is welcome to
contact me - NOT just take it, as was implied in an earlier message. I believe
most of the interested people are in the A2MG, and they are welcome to speak
up. Nobody is preventing them from working with either version, but if they
want to use mine, I would appreciate it if they asked.
I believe the people here just can't stand it that there is no Nathan to kick
around, so they have to jump on anything that moves. That is why most of the
activity takes place on other boards, not here.
If anybody doen't like me or my work, then fine, then don't buy it. <.shrug. aw
gee, we'll miss you.> I believe my work is useful and will be of great joy and
benefit to most users.
AW 5.2 (AppleWorks 5.2) will be relased in the fall, because it is
Y2K-compliant. However, unlike ProSel-16, it is not 1999-compliant. Because it
should not be used until January 1, it will not be released until later.
