Quite a few of your ideas have been implemented. The FAQs are split into
something like 20 Q&A files by topic with a master listing of all questions in the
start file. There are another 25 or so "resource" files-- pics, diagrams,
mini-manuals, programs, etc. which are referenced in one or more FAQs answers.
Currently, the FAQs Q&A are hosted on at least four sites and in three
different forms-- pure text, text with fixed length lines for viewing with a
browser, and HTML.

LOL! Well, it would not need to be a very long FAQs-- something like ...
The Lost Mac User FAQs
cc 1999
001- Where am I?
You are on the Apple II newsgroup. The Apple II is _not_ a Mac!

002- What should I do?
You should get yourself an Apple II and stay. Another option is to check out
a Mac newsgroup, such as comp.sys.mac.system .
Anyway-- neat idea.
