Help with my IIgs
<please reply via e-mail to stramiello_w@acadmain.mercer.edu>
Ok, I'm just sitting down to get my IIgs up and running (I've been playing
with my overclocked celeron, and I feel like returning to the good-old-days
for a while, and seeing what I can do to fix up my GS).
I've got a few questions.
I want to be able to transfer software to my ROM-01 IIgs. It's got a 40mb
SCSI HDD, but no modem. How do I transfer things to it from my PC? I've
heard of null-modem approaches, but how?
All the software I have for the GS in the way of OS and Comm suites is
System 6.0 (doesn't say .01 or .02... I don't know if it's either, or
earlier).
Is there anyone who can send me disks for 6.0.2 and a communications program
that runs under GS/OS? I have shrink it, but I have no way of communicating
between my PC and GS via null modem, because 1) I don't have the cable
diagrams, and 2) I don't have a communications suite for the IIgs. I'm
completely willing to pay for the cost of the blanks and shipping and such.
I really want this puppy up and running.
Second, my HDD is having an annoying problem under 6.0. Whenever I boot into
GS/OS it immediately begins asking me to rename/eject 'extra disks', more
specifically, it seems to be seeing multiple copies of the two partitions on
the HDD. It sees disks 2.1,2.2,3.1,3.2 and so on all the way up to
SCSI-7.02.
Any way to get rid of that? Is it an OS problem, or something with the HDD
finally going bad? The drive works perfectly once I tell it to eject all the
duplicates...
My main concern is getting those disks mailed to me (6.0.2, and a IIgs
communications program), along with the wiring/setup instructions for
running a null-modem from PII to IIgs.
Again, I will gladly compensate monetarily.
