In your dreams! The WOZ signature was supposed to be only on the first
20,000 IIgs's sold, although I strongly suspect there were many more of
them than that. (I bought mine in Japan in 1987, almost a year after
the IIgs was launched.) In terms of version, the above means that at
least the first ones off the assembly line had the defective ROM 00
which were upgraded to ROM 01 by Apple for free. As for memory, all 00s
and 01s came with nothing but the on board 256K if I'm not mistaken.
The way to tell what ROM version you have is to look at the last line of
the text screen that comes up when you turn the machine on. If no ROM
version is listed you've got version 00 and a lot of trouble. It won't
run the last version of the operating system, for example. Otherwise
it'll read something like ROM Version 1 or ROM Version 3. These are
both reliable versions and the differences between them are not earth
shattering especially if you use GS/OS 6.0.1 which makes up for most of
the differences in software. You might want to turn your monitor on
first so that it's warmed up when the bootup screen flashes by.
Oh, BTW, Having said all that I DO have a WOZ limited edition ROM 03. I
replaced the motherboard a few years ago. Grin.
