I guess I'm a hardware nut.  I'll get an emulator when it can simulate the
smell of solder cooking. :-)

I have two Apple II's that I use:  an Apple IIe and an Apple IIgs.  I've
got my eye out for a IIc+ at a good price, but there's only so much you can
do with one of those babies.  My Apple IIe is configured as follows:

    - Original Apple IIe case (heavy plastic, white keycaps)
    - Rev B motherboard w/ 65C02 and enhanced ROMs
    - No-Slot Clock
    - Bugg-Power external power supply
    - SCSI hard drive bay (w/ 240MB drive) where internal power supply used
to be
    - AUX slot:  AE RamWorks II w/ 1MB
    - Slot 1:  Apple Workstation (AppleTalk) card
    - Slot 2:  Apple Super Serial Card connected to SupraFAXModem v.32bis
    - Slot 3:  PCPI Appli-Card (6MHz CP/M)
    - Slot 4:  Apple Mouse Interface card w/ mouse
    - Slot 5:  Apple 3.5 Drive Interface card w/ two 1.44MB SuperDrives
    - Slot 6:  Apple Disk II Interface card w/ two Disk ][ drives (heavily
customized)
    - Slot 7:  Apple Hi-Speed SCSI card connected to internal drive bay
    - AppleColor Monitor on Apple monitor stand
    - Kensington System Saver
    - Apple Numeric Keypad
    - CH Mach III joystick

I think the only thing I'd still like to get for this system is a ZipChip
(I know -- in my dreams).  My Apple IIgs is in the process of being
installed in a PC tower case, but it's configured thusly:

    - ROM 3 motherboard in a Woz Limited Edition case
    - MEM slot:  Sequential Systems RamGS (I think?) with 7MB
    - Slot 1:  Alltech SoundMeister stereo card
    - Slot 2:  Zip Technologies ZipGSX 12MHz/64K
    - Slot 3:  Apple Video Overlay Card
    - Slot 4:  ComputerEyes Plus video digitizer card
    - Slot 5:  Apple 3.5 Drive Interface card w/ two 1.44MB SuperDrives
    - Slot 6:  AE PC Transporter w/ 768K and two 5.25" disk drives
    - Slot 7:  RamFAST connected to 220MB hard drive, Apple CD150 CD-ROM
               drive, and (sometimes) Tulin 21MB floptical drive
    - Printer port:  AppleTalk network
    - Modem port:  SupraFAXModem v.32bis
    - SmartPort:  two Apple 5.25 Drives
    - ADB port:  Apple Extended Keyboard and original IIgs mouse
    - Power port: :-)  Kensington System Saver IIgs
    - Apple RGB monitor
    - CH Mach III joystick

Both of these machines are on an AppleTalk network that also includes an
Imagewriter II (with a Sequential Systems MegaBUFF 1MB print
buffer/LocalTalk inteface card and the sheet feeder option), a LaserWriter
IIntx (that I just bought last weekend for $15 at a computer show), an HP
LaserWriter 680C, and a Mac SE/30 with a 1.5GB drive that I use as a file
server.

I have these machines mostly for nostalgic purposes, but also to see what
new things can be done with them.  I get my fill of fast, modern computers
at work; when I get home I just want something I can tinker with.
