 Hi!

I have a Power Mac 7300/200 with MacOS 8.5.1. Ever since I originally
installed system 8.1, I have encountered a strange problem when
installing new software. Whenever I choose to switch installation
folders from the suggested (which I always do) to another preferred one,
the Mac starts working with the harddisk for 5-10 minutes. That long
time seems to me like a slight overshoot!
The same thing happens within som software when I change working
folders, for instance MPW.

Every time I upgraded to a new version of the system, I thought the
problem would go away, which it, of course, hasn't. I have tried to
install a completely new system and I of course rebuild the desktop
every now and then.
Would be happy for any help.
