It sounds like you've damaged something on the daisy chain board inside
the drive. There is no "bios" - no intelligence of any kind on this
board.
It has very simple componentry and is mostly just passing signals
through with some being relocated. I haven't looked at one for a while,
and I don't recall if it has any chips on it - I seem to recall that it
only had discrete components (resistors and so forth).
A question: have you tried daisy-chaining any other type of drive? It
might just be unable to support a daisy-chained Apple 3.5 drive.
