I can't really tell you why because I don't use the Webside of Delphi
anymore and I never used it for chat.  However, there does seem to be
some issues with different browser's versions of Java.

You might want to try disabling Java and using the HTML chat.
Apparently this isn't as convenient as the Java chat but it might get
you connected.

By the way, if you were trying this on Monday night, it seems that a
number of people were having troubles connecting that night.  I have
no idea why.

Oh, another thing you might want to try.  You will probably get much
better information if you asked about this in the Apple II forum on
Delphi or asked the staff of Delphi about it.  :-)
