Yep, you need a ProDOS partition from which to boot off this drive.

You also need to understand that there are NO Apple II utilities available to
repair damaged files, directories or partitions on an HFS partition.

MY recommendation would be to partition the drive in as many 32 meg ProDOS
partitions as will fit on the drive.  

How do you do that?  On an Apple IIgs, using the Apple Disk Utility (ADU) an a
lot of patience.  ALL 16 partitions are viewable and available to me with
FINDER or ProSel-16 on my 525 meg drive.  Since this is a backup drive for my
370 meg drive, AppleWorks and other 8 bit programs cannot access any of these
partitions, however.

For me, its cheaper than a tape drive; I already had it, so its also cheaper
than buying a ZIP drive.
