I believe it would have been less obsolete as I do a lot of graphic
manipulation. As each new model comes out, the new software quickly follows.
So, in a short period of time, manipulations are slower than the latest,
greatest machine and the new software that comes out doesn't do a thing to
speed up the processing on the older system (That is pretty obvious!) It's like
the old Snake game for the Apple, sooner or later you bite your own butt trying
to stay somewhat current!
As others have posted, they are great machines, but the upgrade path and
frequency of needed upgrades is a bit much.
By the way Don, are you still doing anything on your Apple? ECP8 and ECP16 were
two marvelous creations. I still use them on a regular basis.
