The have nothing to do with one another.

The manual that shipped with GSoft BASIC is a reference manual.

The text for the course is "Learn to Program in GSoft BASIC."  It's a
completely separate thing.  This book is a tutorial course in the BASIC
language and in programming techniques.  It does not cover everything in the
BASIC programming language (as the reference manual must), but it does cover
things in an otehr that makes sense as you learn (which the reference manual
cannot do). It also includes explanations of _when_ and _why_ to do things,
not just the _how_ of a reference manual.
