Hacking is a thoroughly bastardized word. In the sense that I
understand someone is not considered a hacker unless someone else gives
them that title. I learned that the term hacker describes someone of
great ability in an activity whether it be software, hardware or
whatever you want to apply it to. As you said the "media" screwed it up
just as they did to the word gay (it used to mean happy as in the
Flintstone song: "...have a gay old time..."). It really ticks me off
that people that are supposed to be computer literate still use the term
hacker in a derogatory sense. They should have their balls zapped with
a CRT from a monitor with an appropriately "hacked" circuit!
