ProTERM 3.1 and SupraFAXModem v.32bis

I'm trying to get ProTERM 3.1 configured to work with my SupraFAXModem
v.32bis (14.4K bps) on my Apple IIe and am having trouble getting the
program to initialize the modem successfully. ProTERM does list this
modem in the setup window, but when I select it I get an error at
initialization. I am using an Apple SSC and have the DIP switches and
jumper block set exactly the way the ProTERM manual describes (all on
except for the first and last DIP switches). I am able to communicate
with the modem by forcing ProTERM into online mode and issuing an AT&F1
(restore factory settings for Mac), but even putting this as the init
string doesn't get ProTERM to initialize successfully. It will
initialize OK if I select one of the generic modem drivers, but I
suspect that this is not the best solution. Is there something I can
change in the SupraFAXModem v.32bis driver that will allow it to work?
