I still access Usenet with my IIgs using my Tech shell account and the
unews program, which was quite compatible with ProTerm. In fact, a
couple of years ago, my roommate said that unews interfaced better with
ProTerm than it did with his comm program.

Even after everything at Tech switched over to Ethernet (even the
dorms!), they still maintain the dialup access. I use my office computer
at work most of the time to read the newsgroups, but it's nice to know I
can still fire up the IIgs and do just as good.
