REPLACEMENT OF CLOCK CHIP ON IIGS MOTHERBOARD
=============================================
One of my IIgs computers has a jammed clock! I replaced the battery ---
still doesn't advance the clock. The control panel settings remain
stable, so I deduce that the clock is bad.
WHICH IC CHIP IS THE CLOCK? I also have a scrapped IIgs motherboard from
which I might desolder the clock, and fit it into the working GS
motherboard.
BTW, If the chip is a surface-mounted part, I'll try copper desioldering
braid to remove it. But if anyone else has worked with surface-mounted
components, any help on soldering techniques will be appreciated! I
receive the magazine, SURFACE MOUNT TECHNOLOGY, but its all manufacturing
topics --- nothing for hardware hackers..... 8-( Steve Buggie
