Usually, you transfer the file from PC or Mac to the GS via a NULL
modem connection. This gets around any need to mess with diskette
formats.

 ....

Yes; the usual route would be DHR (double-hires) ---> SHR --->
BMP. ("SHR" may be a plain unpacked super-res screen or a standard
packed super-res format, probably Apple Preferred.) There is at least
one PC DOS program, Deluxe Paint, which can convert super-res to a PC
format; but, it is easier to handle conversions on the GS.

You can convert the double-hires pic to super-res using
SuperConvert, Paint 816 utilities, etc.. Once you have a super-res pic,
you can convert it to .gif, .bmp, .pcx, ... using a utility like
SuperConvert or Convert 3200. The .bmp or whatever pic could, then, be
transferred to the PC via NULL modem and processed using a PC paint
program.
