Well, about 3 or 4 years ago, just about everyone I knew got a copy of Gus
off of the internet if they wanted it, because someone spread it around.
It seemed a little incomplete and unpolished at the time, and I felt sort
of guilty for downloading it anyway. But it was cool, because for the
longest time IIgs emulation had been an 'impossiblity'. I did try to get
the (at the time) head of computer tech at my school to sign up for the
Gus agreement, since they had been using IIgses for a while and then one
day suddenly threw them all away or something...but had lots of software
for them for the 'Intro to Computer' level classes. Plus, I think I was on
the Gus mailing list at some point. Ah well, I haven't heard about it in
ages. Guess the interest in it dwindled on Apple's part...like PowerTalk,
I suppose. Was just curious if there was something you knew that I didn't
or perhaps you had a vested interest in it.

Hmmm. Well, the Bernie authors have been quite nice to me, informative,
pleasant...so I guess there's a background behind it. However, let's not
dig that up as I'm sure it's probably unpleasant or something. Of course,
being that you have access to so many Apple II resources, I can see how
you could have it...but not want to mention it.

Well...I've been with emulation for quite some time, not as a developer
really, but I've chatted with many of the Mac emu authors for ages. Well,
mostly John Stiles I guess...there are others though. And when gus came
out in one of it's dev releases...(maybe d3 or something? It's been so
long)...it was spread around. I wonder what Apple's current stance on Gus
is. And if it will ever make a public release. Ah well, I hate to sound
like this, but honestly, at this point, it would have to be an almost
orgasmically good IIgs emulator to make me want to use it instead of
Bernie. (and hey, FE Systems...any day now I will actually
register...forgive the college student who doesn't have much money...and
when he does, goes out and spends it on outdated technology <sigh>...at
least I'm one of those who uses it as shareware and has not sunk to the
point of trying to crack it or pirate a serial number...and thanks for all
your help in the past)
Well, Turley, dunno...is gus good? Hmm. well, I can't ask you if it's a s
good as bernie since you can't use it. hmm. well, does it do good
emulation of the IIgs, as far as Smartport, mouse, ensoniq? Does it _have_
any ensoniq emulation?
