As SuperTimer mentioned, Lynx has an option to download binary files
from web pages.

I'd like to add that if you are transferring binary files from the
internet you really should be trying to do it with FTP. FTP was
designed for transferring either text or binary files around on the
internet. Remember the old adage, the right tool for the job.

This is what I do whenever possible. If I go to a web page and there
is a file there I want to download, if they give an option to get the
file via FTP I will use it instead. Generally, I will also switch to
an FTP program rather than use the web browser to download it. This
way I can choose whether I want to download the file in text or binary
mode and I usually end up getting faster download speeds as well.

However, this is just the way I do it. To each his own.
