I'm told that this is not possible due to the difference in the
design of the IIGS (and other Apple IIs for that matter)
compared to Macs and Windows PCs. Namely, there is
only a single system clock that governs CPU speed,
motherboard speed, and video and I/O. That single
14Mhz clock signal is divided to get other speeds for
the various components.

Thus, speed up the motherboard and CPU and you lose
video and the disk drive.

One possible solution is to move video and disk storage
into systems that have their own clocks. For example,
a system with a Second Sight SVGA card would have
an isolated video system and a system with a RamKeeper
can have an 8MB ROM disk for booting rather than disk
drives.

With video and disk storage isolated, you could then try
to replace the 14Mhz system clock with something greater
to boost both the CPU and the motherboard.
