Actually, he was the only programmer willing to give it a try
of the several top IIgs programmers who took a look at it back
then (Bill Tudor, Steve Disbrow and Joe Wankerl come to mind).
Everyone who took a look at the source code cringed at how
awful it was.

Burger Bill getting it to compile says nothing about the state
of the source code. From all accounts from the programmers who
were offerred to take a look it is the worst source code they've
every seen. This included Burger Bill also.
