     Maybe this will help ... Recently, I ran into a similar problem
booting System 6.0.1 from our Focus Hard Card drive. What worked was to
boot GS/OS from diskette-- a Sys 5.04 diskette was booted in this case--
and wipe the file named "Desktop" from the ICONS/ folder on each hard
disk partition. (Maybe wiping just the boot partition ICONS/Desktop file
would have done the job; but, I did not feel like doing a lot of
experimentation.)
