To (RKE) or Ed or whomever is lost in colorado email system ...

A IIGS can NOT boot over the network if the ZipGS is active. The ZipGS
must be normal (fast=3.8MHz, not accelerated) for the beginning of the
boot process. After booting the ZipGS init can start the ZipGS for
accelerated speed. Problem ONE explained.

Problem 2 is what happens when you try to reboot - the ZipGS is running
accelerated - the IIGS can't boot from the server on the network. My
system.setup folder contains an init (can't recall if TIF or PIF) called
ZipGS.Resetter. This init causes a hardware <reset> to turn off the ZipGS
acceleration. So one can reboot by <ctrl-reset> followed by <oa-ctrl-reset>
(maybe only the second combo is sufficient, I usually use both resets).

I hope ZipGS.Resetter is included with your Zip software. It is not
available on public ftp sites. I also use the Ziptalk init but I don't
know if it is necessary - might depend on how new a version of ZipGS
software you have.

You might be plagued by other minor nuances, but I think the ZipGS is
what is preventing you from booting at the present. As Randy Shackelford
noted, you must run administration software to enable apple II booting
and install special apple2 boot drivers on the server.

Good luck! I hope you get e-mail _receive_ service sometime soon.
Also, please be aware that network booting into GS/OS is slow ...
Expect to see boot times in the 2 - 3 minute range.

My apologies to csa2 readers for publicly posting what should be an
e-mail response, but there doesn't seem to be another way. Well, there
is the telephone, but I'm choosing the inexpensive route.
