Atari ST color monitors and early Amiga monitors are compatible with the
IIgs. You'll need to make an adaptor for the cable though.

It sounds like you're looking for a scan doubler. While these are common
in the Amiga community they never surfaced for the IIgs. I know of a
British Amiga company that sells an external model that plugs into the
Amiga monitor port but it's expensive and I have no idea if it would
work on a IIgs. However, for about $150 you can purchase a Second Sight
video board from Sequential that will among other things allow you to
connect a VGA monitor. I've heard several gripes about this card on
C.S.A2 but I really can't pass judgement on it because I never seen on
in person. You should do power search on deja news for this card if
you're seriously considering purchasing it.
