That assumes there is an APPLE_DRIVER partition already on the disk. There's
no guarantee that's so. CSU, for example, doesn't put an APPLE_DRIVER
partition on disks it formats. And if the original poster is gonna "set up
an HFS partition" he might as well just reformat on his Mac.
The method to transfer the files which is most sure fire and makes the least
assumptions is to use file sharing.
