Re: Apple IIc and Internet

If'n I recall right PC-Link and ALPE (maybe even one or two others)
were all separate services run by Quantum Computer Services. ALPE
became AOL after Quatum developed a dispute with Apple over the future
of ALPE and Apple pulled out. ALPE became AOL and the service broadened
to include Mac users in addition to the original Apple II user base.
Shortky thereafter the service broadened again to include Windows
and that's when the axe started to fall on the related services. I
still have a letter around here somewhere from Steve Case asking Apple II
users to stick with AOL because AOL would always be there for us despite
the changes. I've come to recognize that as a warning sign that you'll
be dumped as soon as you're not needed anymore.
