on my setup the original did work for a second or 2 with the proper pointer then inverse L's started to appear, then trail then it would lock (both in linux mint 32 + wine and Windows 7 64), the laser version does the same as Tom describes I might try some other emulators, though "Bernie to the Rescue" is out for me as the newest Mac I have is an SE
