You should be careful with attributing quoted articles, I did
not write the above (I think it was Boris/Marvin).

I would strongly suspect that was opened up, the ROM upgraded
and then resealed. Apple ceased manufacturing the "Woz" signature
case well before the ROM 01 upgrade was introduced. I bought my
Apple IIgs memory card from Eaton's (back when they had a computer
section) and I remember they were an authorized Apple dealer then.
They could have upgraded it, or sent it back to Apple Canada to do
that. Do you still have that ROM 01 unit? If so, I'm curious, what
is the serial number underneath? That is a definite way to tell.
In any case, I agree, you can't always automatically assume
a "Woz" signature case has a ROM 00 installed. For instance, my
ROM 3 box has a "Woz: Limited Edition" cover. :)
