Well, looking at the back of the Platinum //e we find the following:

1,2,3,4		19 pin D type holes	Disk controllers for 3.5 and 5.25 disks
5,6,8,9		9 pin D type holes	Mice, Quickie scanner etc
7,10,11,12	25 pin D type holes	Serial, Parallel, SCSI etc
