iMac / Sound / Mic

Hi

I've got a little problem. I bought an iMac (just great) one week ago.
And
i tried to install a programm called "Langendscheidt .. speak italien"
on
CD Rom. The programm works fine, but, and that's the problem i've got
some
problems with the microfon. There ist the possibility to record yourself

and then to compare with the CD Rom. I can record but the reply is
v e r y slowly.

If i record a new system error sound it works fine.

The support from this company is not able to help me. Is there somebody
who can give me an idea?

I already tried to reboot only with the OS 8.1 Extensions but, ... the
same problem.
