Okay, the 6551 chip on 3/4 of the SSC's sold dropped the tenth data
bit at speeds over 9600. No one really knew about the problem for a
long time, my understanding goes, because modems did 1200-2400 and
printers maxed out at 9600. The fix was the Revision A SSC which just
contained a fixed (6551A) chip; said chip is also available from the
likes of Alltech and the guy who sells the TurboASB card ($2 I think).
