In general, ProDOS is the better operating system. It handes directories and
multiple disk formats. Except in very rare circumstances, you should use ProDOS
for any new program or and time you have a choice, especially if you have a
hard drive.
DOS does have it's points. one of them is that some programs are only available
under DOS. Many people run both operating systems, switching between them for
various applications.
