I believe I qualify as a skilled person. My unit was built using a PC board and parts kit sold by the DDT designer. I'm quite confident of my construction technique, but the unit simply did not function properly. I think there was an innate timing issue in the way he tries to use NMI to grab control. It may have been sensitive to the particular parts used?
Unfortunately, there is little theory-of-operation data available. The PAL equations were not available initially. I bugged Chuck and was able to get some files, but he was unsure whether they were the actual production code.
I'm sure someone with a real logic analyzer and some patience could figure this out, but I never had the time or interest to pursue it any further.
