Well speaking as someone who lives in Montreal, I can say with
certainty that ProGeni closed up their shop here permanently (it
used to be right across the street from a subway terminus station,
and I've been by there as recently as last week). To me it's more
good news than bad, since as far back as the early 80's, the store
owners were *extremely* dishonest--stealing and taking advantage
of customers (I still cringe when I hear the name "ProGeni").

I'm unaware of any other local shops that deal specifically
with the Apple II as ProGeni did. I did however accidentally come
across one last summer that was *packed* with Apple II, III, and
even Lisa parts (I even found replacement parts for the IIc LCD
screen!) but like most businesses in Montreal--a city in the very
middle of a province with an uncertain future--they went bankrupt.

The Montreal Apple Core users group disappeared about 8 years
ago, and I'm not sure what became of the IIGS user group called
"Club Informatique Longueuil Inc." All that is left is a BBS
system called "Atlantis" (514-342-6774) here, but it hasn't been
answering the line for a couple of months now so I'm not sure if
the sysop is out of town or it's permanently closed. I guess I
should really know more, as one of the acting co-sysops. :)

Having Internet access (or even just access to Delphi) is
often better support than any one local place can offer, that
is especially true when there are no local places for support
(for software, hardware and people to answers to questions).
