File sharing.  Printer sharing.

In my office I use 2 IIEs and 2 MacLC w/IIe cards, usually running Appleworks.
All files are saved on an Appleshare 3.0 file server.  The IIe's boot from
the file-server.  A MacLC-III runs personal file-sharing with a Jazz drive
and a Zip drive.  We have only 2 printers, a LaserWriter NT and a LW 12/640.
The MacPPC's use the 12/640 with ethernet, the MacSEs, LCs, IIes, and IIGS
use the LWNT and LW12/640 with Appletalk.  I can go to and II in any room
and load/work/save a file, go to another area and do some more work on it.
No floppy shuffle.  The IIGS usually runs PT3.1 and does all the up/dn loading
from the II's to my HPUX workstation for SAS data analysis.  Without
Appletalk, managing files and printers would be a hassle.  I wouldn't want
to be without Appletalk on any of my machines.  It is one of the essential
elements IMHO.  It gives me access to all my files and disk storage from
any location.  Sweet :-)

PS.  I understand John Townsend now has Appletalk network running with
his IIGS.  Problem #1 solved.  (It was solved on the Mac end, not the IIGS
end.)
