I realize others have already posted explanations of the jumpers, but you
might still be interested in http://www.blue-planet.com/tech/.  They claim
to have the jumper settings for every hard drive that's ever been made.  It's
not completely true--they don't have the jumper settings for the old Rodime
drive that I've been using on my IIGS--but nevertheless, I've found it quite
useful for getting used drives up and running on a new machine.
