I did check that, and it's got 5V on both sides.  I didn't check whether it
was getting all the way to the SCSI connector, though, because I didn't know
what pin to check at the time.  Anyhow, I went ahead and made the mod to the
HS SCSI card, and now everything works beautifully.  Much thanks to everyone
who sent and posted tips for me.
