A good place to get info on AppleWin is Asimov or one of the Asimov
mirrors:
Asimov- #1 archive of Apple II games and utilities in
emulator DSK and file formats; plus emulators and emu info
ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/
Asimov Mirrors- sites which mirror Asimov
ftp://apple.cabi.net/pub/apple_II/
ftp://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub/apple_II/
ftp://mirror.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/
Look in the emulators/ folder.
Another good source of information is comp.emulators.apple2 .
You can not use a .gz file with AppleWin. A file like narf.dsk.gz
must first be uncompressed using WinZip. This produces a plain Dsk (disk
image or .dsk file). To 'insert' a Dsk for booting you click on
AppleWin's Disk 1 button and navigate to the directory which holds your
Dsks (.dsk files). Then, you select the Dsk to insert and click the
Apple button to boot from Drive 1.
