Re: IIc hard drive hack?



It seems to me that the most obvious way to do it would be to figure out
some way to make a hard drive look like a 3.5" Unidisk.  //c's with the
upgraded ROMs are able to use 800k 3.5" drives...but if there were some
way to connect one of those itty bitty EIDE drives (as on the Focus)
instead...then, one could simply make all the connections internally and
find some real estate inside the box.  THAT would then be the tough part,
as it is a pretty tight fit in there, as I found out when I replaced the
RAM in mine...I installed sockets for all the chips, then found out that I
had made one of the chips sit up so high that it shorted out when I put
the case back together.  Oops!

Anyway, in spite of the power supply on one side, the disk drive on the
other, the motherboard on the bottom, and the keyboard on top, there is
still a little space in there.................

Removing the internal disk drive and replacing that with a hard drive
makes about as much sense to me as building a Macintosh without a floppy
drive...........
