Apple IIc --> PC file transfer

Hi,

I have an extensive Appleworks database on an Apple IIc, and I would like to
transfer this database to a PC. Does anyone have experience doing this? What
would be the best method?

I do not have an external 3.5 floppy drive for the IIc--I believe that would
have been the easiest way (since I have a Macintosh, I could have converted
the ProDos files to Mac format and then finally to MS-DOS format). Right now,
I am trying to hook up the PC and the Apple IIc via the serial ports, but I
am having some difficultly getting the two computers to communicate--even
with just a basic TTY connection using "Hyperterminal" on the PC and "Apple
Access II" on the Apple.
