Actually I have, although the audio recordings are compressed and
encoded into MPEG-3 (*.MP3) audio and burned on a data CD. They could
have been burned onto a standard audio CD, but only a handful of IIgs
music files would fit then. In any case, I just pop the data CD into
my CD-ROM drive on the Pentium and play them using WinAmp.
It took a fair bit of patience, but since I have my IIgs sitting
next to my PC, I connected my Audio Animator to my PC sound card and
digitized various GS music (stereo, 16-bit, 44 kHz and most of the
time encoded at a 128 bit rate stream; probably overkill, yes, but I
wanted it at best possible quality). I completely captured all the
music in Zany Golf and The Immortal (some of the coolest music ever
composed for the GS) and did a couple of nice sounding and then even
not so-nice-sounding music. Let's see, Epyx's World Game series, most
of the Sierra 'Quest' series, Cinemaware games, Music Construction Set,
synthLAB, MegaDemo, a song or two from James Brooks, etc. I still need
to capture some of the FTA tunes and other games when time permits.
Eventually I'll stick them all on one CD together.
This has been for my own private collection incidentally, and
I don't know if making music recordings of long defunct games is
considered a copyright infringement (I'm talking about just sharing
these MP3's with friends, not selling them). It'd be neat to burn
an audio CD of just all of Zany Golf or The Immortal though. :)
