IMHO (hopefully no flaming me here), making a //c or //gs portable is best left
to an Apple enthusiast. It sounds like you want to use your //c for "routine
homework" type applications, and I'd recomend a portable that was "factory
engineered" to be portable. You can use a //c with a 12v power supply, but it's
not "effecient". An LCD display for the //c is a rare collector's item, thus
quite expensive. Failing that, your //c will be "mostly unusable" unless you
can get it to a composite monitor at school (library media lab?). Then there's
the cleaning you have to do on your //c, especially the keyboard.

You can transfer .dsk images to/from your //c using a null modem cable and a
program called ADT.
