This is a configuration mismatch with the software you are using
(probably AppleWorks), not a DIP Switch problem.
The Grappler+ DIP switches select the type of printer you are using, but
this is only important for printing graphics using the card's firwmare.
If you want to print properly from AppleWorks (or any other program
which provides default settings for use with Apple's own parallel and
serial interface cards), then you need to change the initialization
string.
The Grappler+ requires an initialization string of:
Ctrl-I 0N
(That is three characters: Control-I, the digit zero, and a capital N.
No spaces.)
By comparison, Apple's cards use "Ctrl-I 80N". The "80N" part gets
printed by the Grappler because it doesn't recognise this command string
and thinks part of it is plain text.
In AppleWorks, you need to go into the "Other" menu, "Specify Settings
for AppleWorks" (only present in AppleWorks 3.0 and later), "Printer
Settings", then select the printer you wish to modify, then change the
"Interface Card" setting.
