Hi Antoine -

Thanks for the compliment!  I use a Canon MP530 scanner and the
software that comes with it, but I use the optional Scangear scanner
driver software rather than the standard Canon Navigator software.
With Scangear, I select the Source as Magazine (color), Destination as
Print, and no image corrections set.  It took me a little while to
find the information that you probably are looking for:  Those
settings in Scangear set the scanner for 300 dpi, with both Unsharp
Mask and Descreen ON.

I don't cut the pages - I carefully fold the pages back along the
binding seam so as not to damage the magazines.  I do use a weight
atop the scanner cover to keep the pages pressed tight to the platen.
I also now use a set output size (in this case, 10.75" x 8.00") so
that each page is the same size.  The first 3 issues I scanned I
didn't do this, and there is some variability in the page sizes.
(I'll probably rescan those three issues as I tend to be A.R.)
