That's POKE 1012,0 by the way...

There's just an absolute ton lot of PEEKs, POKEs and CALLs you can do to find 
out about your Apple - a few of the common locations are as follows:

PEEK(-16384) or PEEK(49152) returns the high ASCII value of any key pressed.
POKE -16368,0 or POKE 49168,0 clears the above location.

CALL -151 drops you to the System Monitor.
CALL -936 was the old Integer BASIC way to use the HOME command in Applesoft.

There's way more and I don't remember a lot of them ;)
